Make 2014 Smokefree!
Public health partners in Knowsley are promoting a new national campaign raising awareness of the harm that smoking does to your body.
Every time you smoke, blood that's thick and dirty with toxins circulates through your body in seconds. This increases the likelihood of a heart attack or stroke. The average smoker is more than three times as likely to have a stroke than a non-smoker.
Smoking remains the biggest cause of premature death in England and accounts for 60,000 deaths each year with 50% of all long term smokers dying prematurely from a smoking related disease.
NHS Smokefree helps thousands of people quit smoking every year. The campaign recognises how difficult it is to quit smoking and therefore provides a range of FREE support to help people stop the habit in 2014.
