Town Council Mayor
The Mayor of the Town Council is elected by fellow councillors at the Annual General Meeting, which is always held in May. There are no legislative restrictions about the number of times a councillor can become the Mayor (or Chairman of the Council).
At the Annual General Meeting on 21st May 2026, the Town Council elected Cllr John Donnelly as the Mayor of the Town Council for 2026/27. Councillor John Donnelly is a Labour Councillor and represents the Stockbridge Ward. Councillor Donnelly will remain in office until the Annual General Meeting (scheduled for 27 May 2027).

Upon taking office, Councillor John Donnelly said:
"I would like to show my appreciation to Cllr Baum for his outstanding effort during his time as Mayor of the Council for 2025/26".
The Mayor expressed heartfelt gratitude to all members for placing their trust in him.
He emphasised a commitment to progress, unity, and prosperity, and encouraged
collaboration to build a bright future for the community.
Cllr Dennis Baum has been elected to serve as Deputy Mayor for the Municipal Year 2026/27
