MAYORAL-CHAIN-OF-OFFICE

The Mayor of the Town Council is elected by fellow councillors at the Annual General Meeting, which is always held in May. There are no legislative restrictions about the number of times a councillor can become the Mayor (or Chairman of the Council).

At the Annual General Meeting on 16th May 2024, the Town Council elected Cllr L Tomlinson as the Mayor of the Town Council for 2024/25. Councillor Lee Tomlinson is a Labour Councillor and represents the Stockbridge Ward. Councillor Lee Tomlinson will remain in office until the Annual General Meeting (scheduled for 15 May 2025).

Upon taking office, Councillor Lee Tomlinson said:

"I would like to show my appreciation to Cllr B Donnelly for his outstanding effort during his time as Mayor of the Council for 2023/24".

The Mayor expressed heartfelt gratitude to all members for placing their trust in him.

He emphasised a commitment to progress, unity, and prosperity, and encouraged  

collaboration to build a bright future for the community. The Mayor also expressed

appreciation for the opportunity to serve and thanked the previous Mayor for his

gracious donation to support his chosen charities.

Cllr J Donnelly has been elected to serve as Deputy Mayor for the Municipal Year 2024/25
