A Storming Victory In Knowsley For Sir Bradley Wiggins!
On a typically wet and windy autumnal day, the Tour of Britain came to Knowsley yeasterday. The Stage Three time trial over 16 kilometres (10 miles) passed through Knowsley Village. The streets were lined with spectators and the race was totally dominated by the rider most came to see, Sir Bradley Wiggins.
In a stunning performance, Sir Bradley was the only rider to complete the trial in under 20 minutes and such was the magnitude of his dominance he now leads the race overall by over 30 seconds from fellow Brit and Sky Procycling team mate, Ian Stannard.
Three British riders are now in the top five. In addition to Wiggins and Stannard, Alex Dowsett (Movistar Team) occupies fifth spot. Mark Cavendish is back in 25th position and is currently almost two minutes behind Wiggins.
Today's stage starts in Stoke and the 188 kilometre race ends in the North Wales village of Llanberis. The Tour of Britain comprises eight stages and concludes on Sunday 22 September in Whitehall. Whatever the final outcome in London , yesterday we were all treated in Knowsley to an outstanding display of road racing by the world's finest.
