But there is help and support available to help you with essentials such as food, help with energy costs (prepayment and credit meters).
As well as the support outlined below, Knowsley Council has allocated funding from the Government’s Household Support Fund to provide food vouchers to pupils who have been means tested and are in receipt of free school meals. This will fund the October, December, February and April school holidays, providing support to over 8,500 pupils.
Vulnerable residents who are being supporting through the council’s Adult Social Care or Children’s Services teams are also receiving bespoke support aligned to their identified needs.
The Government has announced three payments to help people manage the cost of living crisis. The Government will make the payments automatically to eligible residents – this is completely separate to any support the council is providing.
There is no application process, the payments will be made to people who were in receipt of certain benefits on a particular date and residents may receive more than one type of Payment, depending on their circumstances. Further information can be found on the Government's website. The three payments are:
- A £650 Cost of Living Payment (paid in two instalments)
- A £150 Disability Cost of Living Payment
- A £300 Pensioner Cost of Living Payment.
The Government has launched a dedicated website where residents can find out more about the support available, including help with household costs, energy bills, childcare costs and much more. You can access the Help for Households website here.
