Council Crest --- Legal Rights!

The Town (and formerly Parish) Council has used the coat of arms of the Earl of Derby (or Stanley family) for numerous years on a whole range of items including stationery, uniforms, literature, signage, civic regalia and the website. This utilisation has been with the full written agreement of the Earl of Derby.   

We wish to state that the arms within the Town Council crest are the property of the Earl of Derby. In addition, the Town Council has no legal rights or ownership whatsoever to these arms.
