Important Changes To Knowsley's Waste And Recycling Service
Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council (KMBC) will be making important changes to the waste and recycling service. From 7 October 2013, KMBC intends to introduce a new, easy to use waste collection service to help residents recycle even more of their household waste.
The changes mean that in one week KMBC will collect your recycling waste (grey bin) and in the following week waste that cannot be recycled (maroon bin) will be collected. Depending upon where you live, garden waste (blue bin) will be emptied on the same day as either the grey or maroon bin.
KMBC hopes that these changes will encourage people to increase rates of recycling. Currently, Knowsley only recycles 33% of waste and this needs to increase to 50% in order to protect the environment and reduce expensive waste disposal costs.
The weekly food waste collection service will end on Friday 4 October 2013. After this date , food waste should be put in the maroon bin.
