Knowsley's Archives --- Your Views Are Needed!
Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council (KMBC) is asking people for their views in order to secure funding to expand the borough's archive service. KMBC has already been awarded initial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund in a funding bid to develop the collection of unique materials from Knowsley's past. The development phase of the bid asks people to give their views on the current archives.
Consultation events have been planned and the next one is at Kirkby Library on Tuesday 27 August (10.00 a.m. - 6.00 p.m.). There will be fun history-related activities taking place for the whole family to get involved in.
The current archive is based at Kirkby Library and contains photographs, maps and other official documents reflecting the history of Knowsley. It is open to all members of the public in addition to Knowsley residents.
The archive will be relocated to the new Kirkby Centre in 2014. In its new home, the archive will be housed in a larger area with improved temperature controlled conditions for the historic documents.
If you can't make the consultation event at Kirkby Library, another similar consultation will take place at Huyton Library on Thursday 19 September.
