Norovirus Advice For Residents!
Public health professionals in Knowsley have received a number of reports relating to a viral tummy bug called Norovirus. This can spread quickly and easily. The symptoms include diarrhoea and vomiting. People can still remain infectious for up to 48 hours after the last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting.
You can help reduce the impact of this infection by following the advice below:
- Avoid, if at all possible, close contact with someone who is being sick or who has diarrhoea.
- Hand washing with liquid soap and water should be maintained --- especially after using the toilet.
- People with viral tummy bugs should not prepare food for others. They should also stay well away from food preparation areas. This applies for 48 hours after the symptoms have gone away.
