Safari Kids Club, a beloved community initiative based in Stockbridge Village, has received the prestigious King’s Award for Voluntary Service—the highest honour for voluntary groups in the UK, equivalent to an MBE. This remarkable achievement recognizes the tireless efforts of Pam Richards and her team of dedicated volunteers who work year-round to make a lasting impact on their community.

A Hub of Support and Joy in Stockbridge Village

Safari Kids Club operates out of the Volair Sports Centre, offering a welcoming haven for local families. Every Saturday, the club hosts over 70 children and their families, engaging them in activities such as dance, sports, arts and crafts, and more. These sessions not only provide entertainment and education but also foster a strong sense of community among participants.

But their contributions go far beyond weekly sessions. Safari Kids Club is a beacon of support for families, offering a variety of vital services, including:

  • Stay and Play Sessions: Fun and interactive spaces for children and parents to bond and connect.
  • Free Coffee Mornings: Opportunities for parents and carers to relax, network, and share experiences.
  • Holiday Activities: Engaging events and support for families during school breaks.
  • Recycled Uniform Scheme: A sustainable and affordable way to help families prepare for school.
  • Christmas Hampers: A thoughtful initiative to ensure no family goes without during the festive season.

These initiatives reflect the club’s unwavering commitment to supporting families and strengthening the community fabric of Stockbridge Village.

A Well-Deserved Recognition

The King’s Award for Voluntary Service shines a spotlight on the extraordinary contributions of voluntary groups like Safari Kids Club. Established in 2022 to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee, the award continues to honour exceptional community service under His Majesty The King.

As part of this recognition, representatives from Safari Kids Club will receive a crystal award and certificates presented by Lord-Lieutenant Mark Blundell. Additionally, two volunteers from the club have been invited to attend a garden party at Buckingham Palace in May and June 2025, alongside other esteemed award recipients.

A Heartfelt Congratulations

This honour is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Pam Richards and her team of passionate volunteers. Their efforts have created a positive and lasting impact on the lives of countless families in Stockbridge Village.

Knowsley Town Council extends its warmest congratulations to Safari Kids Club for their outstanding achievements and invaluable contributions to the community. They are an inspiring example of what can be achieved when people come together to support one another.

To Pam Richards and the volunteers: thank you for all that you do. Your work is a shining example of community spirit at its very best.
