The Tour Cycles Through Knowsley Village Today!

Following yesterday's gruelling Stage Two in the Lake District, the Tour of Britain moves to Knowsley TODAY for a time trial. Stage Two, featured testing gradients of around 24% and lasted over 186 kilometres. It began in Carlisle and ended in Kendal.

Stage Two was won by the German Gerald Ciolek and he  becomes race leader. Simon Yates (Britain) finished Stage Two in fourth place but now sits second overall in the race. Sir Bradley Wiggins is currently in 12th position (and 30 seconds in time behind Ciolek).

Today's stage in Knowsley presents an entirely different challenge to the hilly terrain of yesterday. The time trial will be relatively flat and is known as the "race of truth" because each rider competes the 16 kilometre course on their own. Riders go in reverse order and therefore Gerald Ciolek will be last out. The riders depart at one-minute intervals, apart from the final 10 who go at two-minute gaps.

Pundits have indicated that the one to watch in the Knowsley Stage Three is the Briton, Alex Dowsett. He has won the last three national time trial championships and was also victorious in the Giro d'Italia's first individual time trial in May. In the Italian time trial, Alex beat Sir Bradley by ten seconds --- but can he defeat the Olympic champion again?.......
