Knowsley Feelgood Festival and Flower Show.
On Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th August thousands gathered for a colourful weekend of good mood vibes, prize winning flowers, fruit and veg and lots of fun for all the family.
Over two days the festivals offered something for everyone from magnificent floral displays and live music performances to tempting food and drink, and countless fun activities for the kids, including bubble workshops, drumming workshops, circus skills and fairground rides and attractions.
Throughout the weekend visitors had the opportunity to enjoy the work of renowned international artist James Brunt who created a Land Art installation during Saturday’s Feelgood Festival for people to see and enjoy the following day at the Flower Show. Visitors also had the chance to make Wonderful Wildflowers with artist Faith Bebbington who worked with participants to create beautiful artworks out of recyclable materials, and which were displayed at the Flower Show.
Cllr Shelley Powell, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods said:
“This year’s event has been a long time coming and it certainly delivered. The weather was beautiful, the atmosphere was fantastic, and we’ve had nothing but positive feedback.
“What was most special was seeing our communities coming together to enjoy themselves yet again for the latest Borough of Culture event. This truly has been a spectacular summer in our culture programme and there’s still plenty more to enjoy.”
FLOWER SHOW WINNERS
More than 80 people entered the Show with over 300 exhibits in the floral marquee including fabulous giant vegetables and Richard Burniston claimed the Best Exhibit in the show with his winning cauliflower. There were prizes for best exhibits in each section including General Cut Flowers, Pot Plants, Dahlias, Roses, Vegetables, Crafts and the Novice category. This year’s Flower Show also had more new entries than ever before and is a number that Flower Show organisers hope to increase year on year. Cllr Powell, commented: “It’s fantastic that we had new people enter for the first time this year. I hope this appetite for growing continues and that next year we’ll see even more people put themselves forward for this brilliant Flower Show.”

WHAT’S ON THIS SUMMER IN KNOWSLEY
The Owl and the Pussy-Cat sculpture trail – on until 4 September, there are 32 large and elaborately decorated creatures located across Knowsley’s parks, public spaces, town centres and other locations. Download the app and track them!
Tale of the Unexpected – on at Kirkby Gallery until 17 September, the gallery has been transformed into a storybook, with 21 different poems and stories written by over 500 primary school pupils from 16 Knowsley schools.
Serious Nonsense Festival – 19 to 21 August – a massive three day adventure celebrating Edward Lear’s connection to Knowsley.
United by Land – during August and September people are invited to create beautiful Land Art installations in Knowsley’s parks and green spaces with renowned artist James Brunt.
Summer Vibes in Knowsley – Halewood shopping centre, Huyton Village Centre along with Kikrby and Prescot town centres are hosting family-friendly events throughout the school holidays.
